Growing Into a Masculine Society.

Masculinity are the attributes and quality's that are regarded to be characteristics of men.  over the past years "toxic masculinity" has been one of the main factors in "White Male Suicide", males are statistically more prone to drug overdose and suicide. Us males grow through masculine environments all though child and adult hood, and grow up not knowing what kind of man they are. Is there a problem in the way we raise our men? and why are the problems showing up now?

In 2018 men died by suicide 3.5 times more than women, and white males take up 70 percent of suicides. 41 percent of boys in the us feel that they should express anger with violence. I think this is happening due to the amount of pressure parents place upon there children at a young age to be emotionally strong. The way parents raise children now is out dated and should be more open. I also think that recently Covid-19 has given men more pressure to provide for there family's and teen boys more times to question there ideals, patriarchy, and to question there manhood.

Call to Action

How can we, as a society fix this major issue? One simple solution is to raise our children different, if we choose to raise our children in a way that they can find some type of outlet for emotion, then it would be better than to just teach them to suppress there emotion. Another way we could help this problem is to simply talk and be open with our children and love ones.
