How Does Gender Affect Mental Health

How does gender affect our mental health? do the differences in gender really make a difference in each individuals mental health? Studies say that girls are more likely to have  depression and eating disorders, they are also more likely to engage in suicide attempts. On the other hand boys are more likely to have anger problems and are more likely to commit suicide more frequently than girls. If both sexes have different problems but lead to the same conclusion, what causes these problems?

I think that how kids are raised is a direct problem to mental health. Boys are often angry due to the way they are raised, there told to not cry or show no emotion, so there emotion just builds up until they just blow up, or they are told that they have all these responsibilities and stress builds up. girls often have eating disorders due to the social environment that they are in, they feel like they have to maintain a certain weight so they don't eat or they eat more.

Call to Action

Gender affects everyone's mental health. The question is what can we do to prevent negative mental health attributes? I think that the best way we can prevent these issues is to recognize these problems and be open with children. The way we talk to our kids is important, because they need a person to come to, to feel safe.
